The Owosso Musicale News Letter
Dear Musicale Members,
Our 79th (!) Season is ready to openat Christ Episcopal Church, of course, with two highly qualified M.S.U. graduate music students. Tom Elliott was able to secure them, (Thank you!) and they are Jin Hyun Kim, cellist and Zhan Wang, pianist. Jin actually rated a study class with YoYo Ma and both she and Zhan were soloists in the MSU Honors Concert last spring.
But before this, Christ Church is hosting the fabulous Flint Gospel Chorus and director Rafeal McDaniel on 517-204-9882.(I heard them up here at Alpena Trinity Church & they are outstanding!) As C.E.C. has so willingly become our home by graciously housing our Hamlin Mason and chorus music, I ask you to support this concert by attending & inviting your families, friends and neighbors! A reception will follow the concert and we hope some of you will help by providing cookies, etc. Volunteers may contact Sharon Robinson at
is American Music Month and will feature music from the 40's (Do you recall "Love Letters in the Sand" & more?) We also want to honor our own Marine, Genny. Our December our luncheon will be held in the new D'Mar Banquet Center on N. M-52. on the 7th---note that is a week early. The OHS Jazz Band will perform for us & the OM Chorus will lead us in in songs of the season.
We trust all have renewed their membership for the year and are looking forward to a variety of programs. There will be 2 treasurers taking care of business this year. Sue Henry plans on spending some time in Florida this winter, and Sharon Robinson will take over her duties during that time.
The rest of the year will feature programs by Neil Woodward, Michigan's Troubadour; O.M. Music Award winners; Kailey Grubb, a former award winner; and the Classical Bells Quartet.
See you in October,
